Business rates are charged on most non-domestic properties and you’ll probably have to pay these if you use a building or part of this for non-domestic purposes. If you occupy a single property with a rateable value of £12,000 or less you are entitled to 100% relief.
Until recently having two offices in a building or two units that are separated by a wall or communal set of stairs meant you were billed individual for both properties and it meant you could only claim business rates relief on one of the properties.
With the introduction of new legislation you can now put forward for a rebate of business rates going back to 2010, if you have been billed for two or more properties that are separate but adjoining if they are occupied by one individual or company.

In the buildup to Christmas every year The Hub hosts nibbles and festive drinks for our tenants and customers. This year we decided to support The Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity with their Children’s appeal to raise money for a new Children’s unit at Ipswich hospital.
Those who joined us got to enjoy an amazing spread of food and drink and mingle with businesses that they may not have been in contact with before! We’ve included our favourite pictures of everyone getting into the festive spirit!
Meanwhile the festive afternoon raised £65.00 for a new Children’s unit at Ipswich Hospital.
We would like to thank everyone who came and donated.
Over the festive period our team will be celebrating at home, because of this Reception will be closed from lunchtime on Friday 21st December 2018 to Wednesday 2nd January 2019.

Over the course of 6 months we have been working to improve our overall internet throughout the centre with the help of Stickman Technology. We were pitched an system with much faster speeds, secure networks for each company within the building and the ability to control our lease line so it isn’t a free for all where one person can slow the upload and download speeds for all users.
The internet upgrade has been a major success thanks to the cooperation from our fabulous tenants, some very long days and a lot of hard work from our team.

We had an incredible coffee morning here at The Hub supporting Macmillan. Thanks to our tenants and Lombard shipping we raised a total of £275.
What’s on the menu for Macmillan 2018?
It was almost operation bake off at The Hub Business Centre! On Thursday 27th our first floor conference room was stocked with sweet treats and goodies galore! We had a lovely selection of cakes from staff with Laura’s cookies, brownies and cheesecake and Phoebe’s Lemon drizzle, Cornflakes cakes and Victoria sponge. We were also given treats from our fabulous tenants and Immigration Legal Services who baked a prize winning Coffee and Walnut cake made by Angela.
It was lovely to see our tenants all meeting and networking while enjoying some cake and coffee.

When registering a limited company providing an office address is required but who can see this? Where does it go? It may come as a shock when you look up your company and see your home address. The address you use on companies house, invoices or post is considered public knowledge and is easily accessible to anyone.
How do I change this?
You can change your registered office address any time for free by filling out form AD01 and sending it on to Companies House within 14 days of changing the address. HMRC will then be told about the change from companies house and your details will be updated by both organisations.
Do I have to trade from my registered address?
No, there is no need for you to trade from, be present at or have even visited your registered address. It will mainly be used for public record, government correspondence and your peace of mind.
